What is a Family Workshop Weekend?
The purpose of the family workshop weekend is to help family members understand addiction and recovery through a biblical perspective. It also allows family members the opportunity to support their addict in a healthy way once the addict returns home. Most important, it gives family members much needed support throughout this proccess.
The program will consist of two days of classes, written workshop and outside meetings. This will involve:
- Education about addiction and recovery
- Understanding the chemically dependent family system
- Identifying family roles
- Personal goal setting
Why is a Family Weekend Program Important?
In reality, the entire family system is affected by addiction, and the entire family needs to participate in the recovery process. Most likely, much damage has been done in the family, and having a deeper understanding of the conflicts, the recovery process and necessary resources is invaluable.
Who Can Attend?
Normally immediate family members would participate, including spouses, parents, adult children etc. We can only have participants in this program who are 18 years or older.
Will I See My Family Member at this Program?
You will be involved in activities both together and separate. You will be staying in local hotel accomodations. (We can assist you with information on this). You will also have a family counseling session if preapproved by the staff and treatment client.
Do You Charge for This Program?
No. This program is included with the treatment program costs as of March 1, 2010.
When does the program start?
The family workshop weekend is around the last week of the month regardless of when your family member began the program. It always ends with our church service and bbq.
