About the Seminar
Addicts and alcoholics have unique challenges, and knowing how to help them can seem overwhelming. Yet most people struggling with addiction have a genuine desire to find sobriety, they simply do not how to do it. They need tools and assistance to take those first steps towards freedom. As Christian pastors and leaders, our primary job is to point people towards the Solution, Jesus Christ. He truly is the only One sufficient to overcome addiction. But what can we do? As human counselors, in the power of the Holy Spirit, there is a process and some practical applications that can guide an addict on this journey of overcoming addictive behavior.
Dr. Tucker is going to share his expertise in the area of Christian drug and alcohol addiction counseling, gleaning both from his professional practice and personal experience. This seminar is designed to provide a brief overview of the counseling process to the church leader, layman, sponsor or professional who works with the addict and alcoholic.
Also included will be a segment on helping family members of an addict or alcoholic. Whether the addict gets help or remains in the addiction, these family members are in desperate need of support. Learning about the nature of codependency and how it applies to a person struggling with a family member's addiction can be challenging, yet vitally important to the overall dynamic of the addictive cycle.
2.0 CEU’s will offered for $20 through The Association of Christian Drug & Alcohol Counselors for anyone that is maintaining drug and alcohol counselor certification for the state of California. If you are requesting CEU's, please mention when you RSVP. The seminar is free of charge!
